Dane Mitchell (1976, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland) was Aotearoa New Zealand’s representative for the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019. He has presented solo exhibitions in Japan, Germany, France, Brazil, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Australia, United States and New Zealand amongst others.
He has participated in a number of biennales, including Venice Biennale; Biennale of Sydney; Liverpool Biennial; Bangkok Biennale; Gwangju Biennale; Singapore Biennale; Thailand Biennale; Ljubljana Biennale and Busan Biennale. In 2022 he has participated in major exhibitions at Ludwig Museum, Budapest; Tai Kwun Contemporary, Hong Kong and Skulpturenpark Köln, and has produced and presented a daily, hour long work for radio on NTS Radio with collaborators including Hermione Johnson, Rob Thorne, Rachel Shearer, Olive Kimoto, Gate, Torben Tilly, Al Doyle, Max Eastley, Thistle Group and Keiji Haino.
